Karl von Brentano-Hommeyer

Karl von Brentano-Hommeyer (born April 26, 1913 in Munich ; † December 26, 2005 ) was a German politician ( BP , FDP ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, von Brentano-Hommeyer initially studied law and psychology for four semesters in Munich and Geneva . He then switched to studying medicine and was licensed as a doctor in Munich in 1939 after passing his state medical examination and doctorate . From 1940 to 1941 he took part in the Second World War in the medical service. After he left the army because of war damage, he worked as a doctor and company doctor in Munich and Berlin .

In 1951 von Brentano-Hommeyer established himself as a general practitioner in his own practice in Munich. He later became regional chairman of the Association of Resident Doctors in Bavaria, a member of the board of the Bavarian Medical Association, regional chairman of the Association of Aircraft and War Victims (1953) and, at an advanced age, chairman of the German Pensioners' Association in Bavaria.

Political party

From 1953 von Brentano-Hommeyer was a member of the Bavarian Party . Since 1954 he was responsible for burden sharing and social policy in the party's national leadership. In 1963 he joined the FDP .

MP

In 1952 von Brentano-Hommeyer was elected to the Munich City Council for the social community of the disenfranchised voters , but joined the Bavarian Party in 1953. For this he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1954 to 1966 . From December 1960 to January 1963 he was parliamentary group leader of the Bavarian party . The state parliament elected him a member of the third federal assembly , which elected Heinrich Lübke as federal president .
