Tokugawa Ieyoshi ( Japanese 徳 川 家 慶 ; * June 22, 1793 ; † July 27, 1853 ) was the twelfth Shogun of the Japanese Tokugawa dynasty from 1837 until his death .

He was the second eldest son of the eleventh Tokugawa shogun Tokugawa Ienari . During his reign, Mizuno Tadakuni was tasked with implementing the Tempō reforms .

At the end of Ieyoshi's reign, Matthew Perry's fleet arrived in Edo Bay (now Tokyo ). These black ships were supposed to force the opening of Japan to the west, which was achieved with the conclusion of the Kanagawa Convention under Ieyoshi's successor, his brother Tokugawa Iesada .
