Torsten Ankert (born June 22, 1988 in Essen ) is a German ice hockey player ( defender ). He has been playing for the Krefeld Penguins since October 10, 2018 .
Career
Torsten Ankert began playing ice hockey at Moskitos Essen , went through the youth teams there and switched to Kölner Haien in 2002 . The right-handed shooter played his first full season for the DNL team of the KEC in the 2003/04 season. He also worked for the Haie junior team for the next two years. In the main round of the 2005/06 season he also played his first games in the DEL , where he was also used in the play-offs at the KEC. In 2006/07 he played a large part of the season at the KEC and was only used sporadically with a production license in Ratingen and Essen . In the following year he played in addition to the Haien with a license to support the second division Heilbronner Falken . Later he developed into a regular player with the Haien and in a total of 12 years in the DEL he made almost 600 games in Germany's elite class for Cologne. In 2017 he left the cathedral city after losing his regular seat there and joined the Grizzlys Wolfsburg . Shortly after the start of the season, however, he injured his shoulder in a game against the Augsburg Panthers on October 5, 2017 and has since been sidelined for an indefinite period after an operation. On October 10, 2018, he left the Grizzlys Wolfsburg for Krefeld.
International
Ankert made his debut in a national team of the German Ice Hockey Federation in 2005 at the U18 World Cup , where he managed to stay up with the German team. It was also used at the U18 World Cup in 2006 and the U20 World Cup in Division I in 2008 , when it had the best plus / minus balance of the tournament.
Ankert took part in the 2013 , 2014 and 2016 World Championships with the German men's national team.
