Philip Riefers (born March 15, 1990 in Krefeld ) is a German ice hockey player who has been playing for the Krefeld Penguins in the German Ice Hockey League again since May 2018 .
Career
Riefers came to the Krefeld Pinguinen at the age of five, where he was already considered a talented player in the Bambini and junior school teams and was often active in the higher age group. For the 2005/06 season the winger was in the squad of the Krefeld DNL team for the first time , having previously played in the school league. There the right-handed shooter was able to prevail and was one of the best strikers in the league in his second year with 47 scorer points in 37 games . One season later, Riefers was able to increase his points yield again and was the top scorer of the 2007/08 season with 40 goals in 36 games and the second best scorer in the German junior league with a total of 68 points.
Philip Riefers had a contract with KEV until 2011 and went on the ice for the Krefeld Pinguine in the DEL for the first time in the 2008/09 season , but was also given a funding license for the cooperation partner Landshut Cannibals from the 2nd Bundesliga .
After the Cologne Sharks and the Augsburg Panthers , he went to the reigning German champion Adler Mannheim in 2015 . Riefers stayed in the Electoral Palatinate for one season and was then signed by the Grizzlys Wolfsburg in May 2016 . After two years in Wolfsburg, during which he completed 110 DEL games for the Grizzlys, Riefers returned to the Krefeld Penguins for the 2018/19 season.
International
Riefers took part with the German U18 selection in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2008 , where he was used in six games. Since 2009 Riefers has been a regular player in the German U20 team and took part in the U20 Junior World Championship in Division I in 2010 . Riefers scored two goals and four assists in five games and thus contributed to the promotion to the top division. In the 2014/15 season he was used for the first time in the German men's selection .
