Jeremy Welsh (born April 30, 1988 in Bayfield , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Krefeld Penguins from the German Ice Hockey League since 2019 .

Career

Welsh spent his junior years exclusively in lower-class junior leagues in Canada, including the Ontario Junior Hockey League , where he played for the Oakville Blades between 2007 and 2009. He then attended Union College until 2012 before moving into the professional field.

There the striker first received a contract with the Carolina Hurricanes from the National Hockey League , which let him play mainly with the Charlotte Checkers in the American Hockey League . This was followed by a one-year engagement with the Vancouver Canucks , where he was increasingly involved in the NHL, but also spent a lot of time in the AHL with the Utica Comets . For the 2014/15 season Welsh moved to the organization of the St. Louis Blues , which used him in the American Hockey League in the following two years with the exception of two games with the Chicago Wolves .

After the contract expired, the Canadian moved to Europe in autumn 2016 , where he joined the Fischtown Pinguins from the German Ice Hockey League .

After a year in Bremerhaven with 42 missions, 16 goals and 17 assists, Welsh moved to Düsseldorfer EG in May 2017 . After the 2017/18 season, however, his contract in Düsseldorf was not extended. After a brief assignment with HC Dynamo Pardubice in the Czech extra league , Welsh returned to the Grizzlys Wolfsburg in the DEL in December 2018 .
