Leonhard Niederberger (born January 31, 1996 in Düsseldorf ) is a German ice hockey player and musician who has been under contract with the Krefeld Penguins in the DEL since June 2020 . His father Andreas and his brother Mathias were or are also ice hockey players; he played with his brother for several years at the Düsseldorfer EG .

Career

Sports

Niederberger spent his time as a young player with the Düsseldorfer EG . In 2013 he moved to Füchsen Duisburg , for whom he was used in the Oberliga West, the third highest German division. He was also active in the offspring of the Kölner Haie . In 2015 he returned to the Düsseldorfer EG, for which he completed his first assignments in the DEL in the 2015/16 season . Since then, however, it has mainly been used in the DEL2 for EC Bad Nauheim , as well as in the Oberliga Nord for the mosquito food . In the further course of his career, however, he made the leap to become a DEL regular player and finished the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons as sixth and fifth with DEG. Niederberger completed a total of 119 DEL games for his home club and scored 26 points (12 goals). On June 24th, 2020 it was announced that Niederberger will switch to Rhenish rival Krefeld Pinguine .

He also released his first debut single "What I'm missing" in 2018. His second single "More Than a Memory" made it to number 17 on the iTunes charts in April 2019 on the day of its release .
