Marvin Cüpper (born February 16, 1994 in Cologne ) is a German ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with the Krefeld Penguins from the German Ice Hockey League since April 2020 .
career
Cüpper was trained at the Cologne EC in his hometown, before moving to Krefeld in 2010 and a year later to Berlin in the polar bears' youth department .
Between 2012 and 2015 he pursued his ice hockey training with the Cataractes de Shawinigan in the Canadian Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec .
In July 2015 he returned to Berlin and signed a three-year contract with Eisbären Berlin . Cüpper made his debut in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) on November 1, 2015 against Krefeld. In the 2015/16 season he was active in DEL2 thanks to a funding license for the Dresdner Eislöwen , and in the 2016/17 season for the league rivals Lausitzer Füchse . At the beginning of the 2018/19 season he was actually intended for the polar bear squad, but injured his foot shortly before the start of the season and was out until the end of the year. In December 2018 he moved permanently from Berlin to the Lausitzer Füchsen in order to collect match practice. In the first league game for the foxes, however, he suffered a fractured cheekbone and so missed the rest of the season. At the beginning of the following season he was injured again and was only able to play 6 games for the Lausitzer Füchse. Following the 2019/20 season, he did not receive a new contract with the polar bears and returned to the Krefeld Penguins .
