Justin Hodgman (born June 27, 1988 in Brampton , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Krefeld Penguins in the German Ice Hockey League since 2019 .
Career
Justin Hodgman began his career as a hockey player with the Huntsville Otters, for which he was active in the 2004/05 season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League . He then spent four years with the Erie Otters in Canada's top junior league, the Ontario Hockey League . At the same time he gained his first experience in professional ice hockey with the Fort Wayne Komets from the International Hockey League , with whom he won the Turner Cup three times in a row in 2008, 2009 and 2010 . The center itself was named Most Valuable Player of the Playoffs in 2008 and 2009 . From 2009 to 2011, the right-shooter ran mainly for the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League . At the same time, he was also used for the Toledo Walleye and Reading Royals in the ECHL .
For the 2011/12 season, Hodgman moved to the Pelicans Lahti from the Finnish SM-liiga . In Europe he was able to convince right away and scored 64 points in 76 games, of which 17 were goals. With his team he also reached the playoff final, in which, however, JYP Jyväskylä was defeated. For the following season the Canadian was committed by HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk from the Continental Hockey League . In October 2013, Magnitka's management decided to swap Hodgman for Tim Brent from Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod .
In July 2014, Hodgman returned to North America and joined the Arizona Coyotes . After a year there he was hired as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues , who used him exclusively with the Chicago Wolves . In January 2016, his contract was therefore terminated by mutual agreement, so that he could join Örebro HK from Svenska Hockeyligan . After playing two seasons in the ECHL with Fort Wayne Komets for personal reasons , he joined the Krefeld Penguins in the DEL for the 2019/20 season .
