As the World Cup goal of the century , the 2-0 in the game Argentina against England at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico was determined in an internet vote carried out by FIFA on the occasion of the 2002 World Cup .

Diego Maradona scored the goal . During a dribble over about 60 meters, he played around the entire English back team including goalkeeper Peter Shilton , before he pushed the ball into the empty goal. In the same game, Maradona previously scored an irregular goal by handball, but the referee gave it as a regular goal (see “ Hand of God ”). Maradona scored two goals in the semi-final against Belgium; the goal that was voted fourth was the second goal of the game to make it 2-0.
