youth

The son of an atomic engineer spent the first years of his life together with his brothers Stéphane and Christophe in Igny . Due to a change in the father's job, the family later moved to Brussels ( Belgium ). The family lived in good conditions, and in their free time they mainly listened to classical music. The family situation was also characterized by great respect, Nicola welcomed his parents, who in turn tolerated many things such as the children's smoking in public. In 1971 the parents separated, Nicola then lived with his mother, but the contact with the father, with whom he had a close relationship, did not break off.

During the time of the parents' separation, Nicola went to boarding school , a circumstance that he describes as one of the hardest phases in his life as he felt locked up. Nevertheless, his school performance was good, he was considered the best in his class.

The mother later moved to Paris with her children . For Nicola this meant another turning point in his development, as he was used to living in large houses, but his mother moved into a smaller apartment on the outskirts of the French capital. This turning point also had an impact on his relationship with his twin brother. Previously, school classes were attended together, but now they have been separated for reasons of quotas. The personal interests and the circle of friends of the two also changed, as did Nicolas' excellent school achievements. According to his own account, he only began to study a few days before the Bac ( Baccalauréat ). Four repetitions of the test (including at two private schools) were necessary before Nicola achieved the required results, with particular difficulties in the areas of math and English .

After finishing school, Nicola campaigned for Amnesty International and occasionally took part in their campaigns.

army

Although he says he is not a pacifist, he tried not to have to serve in the army. For example, when he was examined, he presented a medical certificate confirming a pinched sciatic nerve . Nevertheless, he was classified as fit for military service and had to start his military service on August 4, 1981 , where he was used as a radio operator. When he was handed a helmet and a rifle, he said he burst into tears. He fell into depression and attempted suicide using strong sedatives. Only through resuscitation could he be saved.

Private life

Only occasionally does anything leak to the public about his current private life. Sometimes there are rumors that he is homosexual. However, the wedding with Gwenaëlle, the bassist of the band Madinka, speaks against this. He married her on September 24, 2003; the two have a daughter named Théa (* 2001).

Anecdotes

After an interview, a journalist made a typo. So he was not called Nicolas Sirchis, but Nicola Sirkis. Nicola took this opportunity and made this typo his artist name.
