Third Macedonian-Roman War
- June 22nd : After three years of warfare in the Third Macedonian-Roman War , the Roman army under Aemilius Paullus succeeds in decisively defeating the Macedonian armed forces in the Battle of Pydna . The kingdom of the Antigonids is dissolved, the last king Perseus imprisoned in Alba Fucens.
Sixth Syrian War
- Early July: On the day of Eleusis , Roman envoys force the Seleucid king Antiochus IV to renounce the conquests of Egypt . This ended the Sixth Syrian War .
Illyria
- The last Illyrian king Genthios , who resides in Scodra (today's northern Albania ), is defeated by the Romans under Lucius Anicius Gallus and taken captive to Rome. The Illyrian territories are divided into client states that are dependent on the Romans. The time of the Illyrians on the Balkan Peninsula ended for good.
