Heinrich II of Rotteneck
Heinrich II. Von Rotteneck († July 26, 1296 ) was Bishop of Regensburg from 1277 to 1296.
Heinrich II. Von Rotteneck came from the counts of the von Rotteneck family. The name-giving town is Rottenegg . He was the last of his line. Josef Staber names Count Meinhard von Rotteneck and his wife Beatrix, born Countess von Moosburg , as the parents of Heinrich II . His sister was the mother of Eichstatt Bishop Konrad II von Pfeffenhausen .
Heinrich II was involved in the conflicts south of the bishopric. He stepped several times between the quarreling Wittelsbach brothers Ludwig II and Heinrich XIII. as a peace broker.
He promoted the construction of the Gothic cathedral and donated several gifts to the cathedral treasure (see also Regensburg Diocese Museums ). He also began building the Bogenberg pilgrimage church . These construction activities progressed very slowly, however, because Heinrich II's main concern was to remove the debts of the bishopric. Heinrich II also invested in the expansion of castles and palaces, which he financed by selling his private property, the county of Rotteneck.
The conflict over influence on the monastery of Sankt Emmeram continued. The monastery had exhausted itself financially during the time of its predecessor Leo Thundorfer . Through papal intervention, the issues at stake, e.g. B. concerning the entertainment costs, pragmatic solutions.
