Conrad III. of Laichling

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Conrad III. von Laichling († April 23, 1204 ) was the 25th Bishop of Regensburg from 1186 to 1204.

In 1189 Konrad III started. to the Third Crusade , from which he returned in 1191. In 1197 he set out again in the crusade of Henry VI. The death of the emperor moved him to repent and he supported Philip of Swabia as a candidate for the throne . As a result of the expansion of territory by the Bavarian Duke Ludwig dem Kelheimer , not least due to the death of the Steflingers , a feud with Bishop Konrad III broke out, in which the bishopric and its ecclesiastical property were badly devastated.
