Sigerich (Regensburg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sigerich († 768 ) was the second bishop of Regensburg from 762 to 768.

Little more is known about Bishop Sigerich than his name. Like his successor, he is counted as part of the noble family of the Hachilinga (see also Hechlingen ). Like the other first Regensburg bishops, Sigerich was also head of the St. Emmeram monastery . It appears in connection with donations to the Niederaltaich monastery . He is counted among those present at the Synod of Aschheim , who wrote a letter to Duke Tassilo III. turns. From the style of the document, researchers deduce a politically influential position of the bishop and the other authors.
