Saxon Imperial Circle

The ten imperial circles in the middle of the 16th century: The Saxon imperial circle existed from 1500 to 1512 and consisted of the territories of the Lower Saxony and Upper Saxony districts .

The Saxon Imperial Circle was one of the original six imperial circles into which the Holy Roman Empire was divided under Emperor Maximilian I in 1500. Before it was given its name, it was assigned the number 6.

history

The first plans for a Saxon imperial circle go back to Albrecht II in 1438. The district established in 1500 was divided in 1512 into the Lower Saxony Imperial Circle and the Upper Saxon Imperial Circle . For organizational reasons, however, the division could not be implemented until 1522. B. first the composition of the Reich Chamber of Commerce had to be adjusted.
