Schokalskovo Peak

The Schokalskowo Peak ( Russian Пик Шокальского ) is a 5722  m high mountain in the Tian Shan Mountains in eastern Kyrgyzstan near the border with Xinjiang ( PR China ). It is therefore the highest mountain in the Engiltschek range .

The glaciated flanks of the Schokalskowo peak flow into the Kaindy glacier (towards the southwest) and into the Schokalskovo (north) and Komsomolez glaciers (southeast). The latter two flow into the Southern Engiltschek Glacier shortly before its end , one of the largest glaciers outside the polar regions with a length of around 60 kilometers.

The mountain was named after the Russian cartographer Juli Michailowitsch Schokalski .
