Stillern is a district of the municipality of Penzing in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech .
geography
The desert of Stillern is located about three kilometers southeast of Penzing in a spacious forest clearing about 200 m south of the federal highway 96 .
history
A prehistoric barrow field is located a few hundred meters east of the wasteland .
Stillern is first mentioned in 912 as Oetheringen , the place name can be derived from the personal name Other.
In the year 1552, a whole farm is mentioned in Stillern, it was foundable for the Hl. Geist Spital in Landsberg. At this point in time the village was still called Aitteringen .
The name Stillern is mentioned for the first time around 1400 and comes from the field name Stiller , in 1752 the whole farm is referred to as Stillerhofbauer .
In legal terms, the wasteland belonged to the Penzing area of the Mitteramt of the Landsberg district court , which held both the low and high jurisdiction .
Attractions
In the wilderness is the Catholic Chapel of St. Stephan, a single-nave plastered brick building with a polygonal choir, saddle roof and turret. The choir dates from the 15th century, the nave dates from 1871.
