The Prantshausen Castle is a former castle in Bad Aibling , which is now run as "Hotel Lindner's".

history

The history of the castle begins in the early Middle Ages - the foundation walls date from the time of the Merovingians , around 600 AD. In 800 the “frozen Sedlhof Prantshausen” was first mentioned in a document. It is believed that the property and the lands belonging to it belonged to a von Prant family. The building is considered the birthplace of the blessed Rathold von Aibling (approx. 900–954), who is shown in a mural on the north facade.

The more than one meter thick walls of the castle fended off attackers and survived two major fires that raged in Bad Aibling in 1495 and 1765 with almost no damage. Instead of the four towers that were destroyed in the last fire, the baroque facade was built. Since then, it has shaped the image of Marienplatz in the center of Aiblingen.

In 1709 the castle changed hands for the first time. The then mayor of Bad Aibling had an inn and hostel set up there, which flourished thanks to the Salt Road .

On May 1, 1853, Johann Lindner bought the castle for 200 guilders . Since then, the property has been owned by the family. Today it bears the name "Romantikhotel Lindner".
