Rosenheim Castle

The castle Rosenheim , including castle Rosenheim called, is an Outbound hilltop castle on 460  m above sea level. NHN in a spur on the eastern bank of the Inn on the Schlossberg above today's Innbrücke in Schloßberg , a district of the municipality of Stephanskirchen in the Rosenheim district in Bavaria .

The castle was built by the Hallgraves of Wasserburg after 1150 and indirectly mentioned in 1232 with a "Screndelin de Rosinheim", a Wasserburg ministerial . Allegedly it was the seat of Gebino II von Stephanskirchen (mentioned in a document between 1085 and approx. 1135), a son of Bernhard von Weilheim. According to this, Lasseno II, who was married to a daughter of Dietmar von Hausen, must have built the castle. In 1234 and 1237 the castle was first called "Castrum Rosenheym". In 1267 it went to Heinrich XIII. , Duke of Lower Bavaria over.

In 1425 it was damaged in the course of the Bavarian house dispute, rebuilt and destroyed in the War of the Spanish Succession in 1714 . In 1745 the castle was blown up, razed and fell into disrepair in 1749. In the 19th century the last remains of the castle were demolished.

The former castle complex, which presumably consisted of a squat keep with late Gothic additions, still reveals the castle square and the neck moat today .
