The Speckerturm castle ruins , also known as Speck or Specker Turm , are the ruins of the Speckstein Castle . The Spornburg lies on the slope of the Ratzinger Höhe at 530 m above sea level. NHN east of Hirnsberg , a district of the Bad Endorf municipality in the Rosenheim district in Bavaria .
history
Not much is known about the castle today; in older literature it is equated with the Answer Castle, an Alt-Hirnsberg Castle or a predecessor of the Hirnsberg Castle .
It is possibly named after the neighboring farm "Beim Specker" and was built in the 12th century by the Lords of Hirnsberg, feudal people of the Counts of Falkenstein-Neuburg , and was probably a neighboring castle of Hirnsberg Castle.
Of the former castle complex with a castle square measuring 20 by 25 meters, only the 7.5 meter high core masonry of the square residential tower or the keep with a base area of 7 by 7 meters in the southeast corner is preserved.
