Oreolalax sterlingae is a species of amphibian from the Asian toad frog family (Megophryidae).

description

Oreolalax sterlingae is a small species of the genus Oreolalax . The head-torso length is 44.6 millimeters in females and 36.8 millimeters in males. The tympanum is not visible. There is webbing at the base of the toes. There are round warts on the back. There are white spots on the flanks. Both warts and spots are clearly delineated. The underside of the body is smooth and darkly marbled. The interorbital space does not have triangular, dark patterns. The top of the thigh has three broad, dark horizontal stripes.

Occurrence

The species is so far only known from the type locality in the Hoàng Liên Sơn mountain range , Lào Cai province , northern Vietnam . The animals were found there at an altitude of 2900 meters in a rocky stream in a bamboo forest.

Taxonomy

Oreolalax sterlingae was discovered in 2013 by Truong Q. Nguyen et al. first described . The species is named after Eleanor J. Sterling of the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
