history
Until the church is planted
Grave finds testify to the first settlement around the year 550. The place name is mentioned for the first time in 1188 and is likely to come from an Alemannic clan called Buro, Burin or Buring. This later resulted in Purgo, Burggau and then Burggen. In 1796, a devastating fire destroyed entire streets. The place was then rebuilt. The municipality was established in 1818 through the municipal edict.

On May 1, 1978, parts of the dissolved community of Tannenberg were incorporated.
