Auerbergland
Auerbergland is the name of an intermunicipal association founded in 1992 of originally 8 and now a total of 14 communities around the Auerberg in Bavaria, about 80 km southwest of Munich. A special feature of this association is that the member communities are not in the same district, but rather extend over the districts of Weilheim-Schongau , Ostallgäu and Landsberg am Lech , which are also located in different administrative districts of Bavaria, namely Upper Bavaria and Swabia.

aims
The merger is intended to strengthen the rural area. By jointly exploiting the potential in the region, the economy and tourism should be strengthened, but social cohesion should also be promoted. The Auerberg should no longer serve as a topographically and politically-administratively separating element, but rather as an identification feature for the historical, sociocultural and natural spatial similarities and as a tourist brand. After the LEADER + funding program came to an end , the Auerbergland joined forces with the Pfaffenwinkel Tourist Association and founded the AL-P Auerbergland-Pfaffenwinkel Leader action group.
Auerbergland Museum Association
One result of this intermunicipal merger is the Auerbergland Museum Association , which now includes nine larger and smaller museums with different focuses:
- Auerbergmuseum in the Kiebelehaus in Bernbeuren
- Village museum in the Pfannerhaus in Roßhaupten
- Rafting Museum in Lechbruck am See
- Hammerschmiede Schwabsoien
- Hydropower information center on the premises of the Roßhaupten power plant
- Schwabsoien Carriage Museum
- Bernbeuren Dairy Museum
- Rieden am Forggensee doll museum
- Pilgrimage museum in the Wies in Steingaden
