Lechbruck am See

Lechbruck am See ( dialect : Lech ) is a municipality and a parish village in the Swabian district of Ostallgäu .

history

Until the 19th century

Lechbruck consisted of the two separate places Lech and Lechbruck until around 1777. The district "Lech" (today the lower village of Lechbruck) was first mentioned in 1316 ("Hof ze Lech"). About the upper part of the village it says in the land register from 1398: "The Gogers is a good little farm, the Pfanzelt von Lechbrug has." That is the oldest mention of the current village name. The village belonged to the bishopric of Augsburg . Since the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 the place belongs to Bavaria. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

The Via Claudia Augusta ran through Lechbruck along its entire length from around AD 20. Part of the original route, 3 km north of the town, around 500 meters are still visible today.

Michel de Montaigne rode in 1580 with his retinue from Bordeaux ......... to Wangen, Isny, Kempten, .. Füssen, flowed over the Lech to Schongau, Landsberg, Augsburg - then rode over Munich, Innsbruck, towards Rome. He passed on the Lech with the Lechbruck raft , formerly a branch of Bernbeuren , belonging to the Probstamt Füssen .

Before the construction of the Marktoberdorf – Lechbruck railway line and the Lech regulation, the place had a long tradition as a “Flößerdorf”. The courageous rafters from Lechbruck were responsible for rafting mountain wood, stone and building materials, charcoal and food from the upper Lech Valley to the Augsburg area. Quite a few rafts even sailed down the Danube to Vienna , Budapest and Belgrade by 1819 .

He was repeatedly plagued by floods: Ingrid Kahlert in the Ortschronik von Lechbruck - In “... Rosina the maid” Karl Fliegauf describes how his grandfather came to Lechbruck, took up quarters in the “Bäredoanar” (Baereduanar). .... flood .... was in 1879 ... “. K. Fliegauf "An Lech und Ammer" ".. when the bricklayer and the exhausted Rosina climbed to the bank ... One never knew such a flood ... the Lech had overflowed its banks and rolled its dirty gray water like a mighty river through the valley .... went ... the Thalhofer to his little room at "Bäreduanar."
