history

Until the church is planted

Lamerdingen is to be seen as an original Alemannic settlement . This is indicated by the name “with the people of Lademout” and the location on a very old street with places ending in -ingen (so-called “Hochstraße” from Augsburg to Buchloe).

The name developed gradually from Lademutinga, in the 11th and 12th centuries via Lademütingen, -matingen, etc., until it was only sporadic in the 16th century and predominantly as Lamerdingen from the 19th century. The Lademutinger were free men who upheld the right to carry arms until the late Middle Ages. A large number of goods were designated as free, unjustifiable and inoperable in advance purchases. Nobles from different tribes (Balzhausen and Schwabeck, Ursin- Ronsberg , Welfen) can be identified for the high Middle Ages in Lamerdingen .

Lamerdingen was a parish as early as the 11th century, the income of which went to St. Peter's Abbey in Augsburg . The parish church of St. Martin was mentioned as early as 1067; it should still be from the 12./13. Century. Around 1500, expansion work was carried out on the tower, choir , nave and in 1736/38 the nave was rebuilt with internal redesign by Michael Stiller and the sacristy and vestibule added. The church in the middle of the cemetery, where restoration work was carried out in 1893 and 1939, with the parsonage newly built in 1968/69 gives the village a special touch. The place Lamerdingen belonged to the monastery of Augsburg until the secularization (1803) , the place Großkitzighofen belonged to the cathedral monastery Augsburg . Since secularization and the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 , the place belongs to Bavaria. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

History of the parish

Großkitzighofen

The clustered village with 434 inhabitants (2014) was incorporated into Lamerdingen as part of the regional reform . The place is 7 km (as the crow flies) northeast of Buchloe on the right bank of the Singold . The district of Augsburg borders to the north and the district of Landsberg am Lech borders the village hall to the south and east. The Kitzighofer Moos, a valuable biotope that has been included in the state biotope mapping, extends south of Großkitzighofen and Kleinkitzighofen.

The name Kitzighofen developed in 1067 from Kuzzenkova, Chuzzinchova, in the 13th century Kuzzinchoven, until the 16th century to the present form. It means "courts of the people of the Chuzzo clan".

Until it was replaced by the cathedral monastery in Augsburg in the 14th century, the lords of Rohrbach and the Ottobeuren monastery owned rights and goods, with Ottobeuren being the oldest owner of Großkitzighofen.

In its beginnings, the parish church of St. Stephan probably dates back to the High Middle Ages, the parish is even older (the first known pastor is Chunrat der Pfarrer zu Kützenkoven in 1376). The choir and core of today's parish church were only built around 1500, the nave was extended in 1687 and the tower octagon was added in 1708. The ceiling paintings by Johann Baptist Enderle in 1737 come from later work in the church. The tower of St. Stephan, visible from afar, the 50 m high landmark of Großkitzighofen, is the tallest building in the community of Lamerdingen. The first known tower renovation was in 1883.

Kleinkitzighofen

The clustered village with 312 inhabitants (2014), 1 km west of Großkitzighofen, was incorporated into Lamerdingen as part of the regional reform. The establishment of the settlement is comparable to Großkitzighofen. As there, it is also a question of free, unworthy, uncontrollable and unserviceable goods. The oldest traces of the local family lead to the Hochstiftsvögte, the nobles of Schwabeck as feudal lords of the Kitzighofener. The successors were Ritter von Rohrbach Augsburg citizens, the Welser and the Rehlinger . The Rehlinger established a permanent rule in Kleinkitzighofen in 1564 by purchasing the splintered property. A pastor has been named since 1478. In the western part of the village in the middle of the cemetery is the parish church of Cyprian and Justina, of which the tower base and parts of the choir and nave go back to the 14th century. In 1479/81 the church was expanded by master mason Pleitenstein from Landsberg. The choir was redesigned in Baroque style around 1700, the nave was renewed in 1733 and the tower was added in 1766. The new people's altar in the parish church of St. Cyprian and Justina in Kleinkitzighofen was consecrated on March 21, 2004 by Auxiliary Bishop Josef Grünwald during a solemn pontifical mass. The new stone altar holds relics of St. Christina of Bolsena and St. Simpert of Augsburg in a glass column . The sculptor Joachim Kraus from Wertingen has succeeded in creating a work of timeless architecture with the simple, elegant design of the altar, ambo and Easter candlestick .

Dillishausen

The row village with 390 inhabitants (2014) was incorporated into Lamerdingen as part of the regional reform in 1978. The district of Dillishausen is 2.5 km north of Buchloe on the state road 2035. In the middle of the village is the outwardly simple Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul, which has a high-quality late Baroque interior.

Dillishausen, 1.5 km to the west, also includes a wasteland, first mentioned in 1299 as "molendinum Eschenloh". Referred to as the Schlossberg with the castle stable next door, it is likely to be the seat of the local family and the lord's power mill. Today the Eschenlohmühle is a large farm with a riding stables, riding arena and tournament area.

coat of arms

Blazon : split from red and silver with a heart shield split from red and silver, in front a half silver eagle at the gap, at the back growing out of the gap, three black tips above and three red tips below.

The community of Lamerdingen consists of the formerly independent communities of Lamerdingen, Dillishausen, Kleinkitzighofen and Großkitzighofen. The municipality has had this coat of arms since 1992. The half eagle at the gap is taken from the coat of arms of the former collegiate monastery St. Peter in Augsburg, which was founded in 1063 by Count Schwigger von Balzhausen and Schwabegg. Lamerdingen belonged to the equipment of this monastery. The heart shield of the municipal coat of arms represents the coat of arms of the bishopric Augsburg and indicates Dillishausen, which came to the bishopric in the 14th century. The rear part of the coat of arms is a combination of the former coat of arms of Kleinkitzighofen and Großkitzighofen. The black tips are taken from the coat of arms of Kleinkitzighofen, the red tips are taken from Großkitzighofen. The tips come from the coat of arms of the nobles of Rorbach (Rohrbach), who are attested as the first local lords of both districts in the 13th and 14th centuries.

Town twinning

Since April 19, 2006 there has been a town partnership with the Polish municipality of Włodowice .

Village renewal

In mid-2002 the new municipal council, together with the Directorate for Rural Development, restarted this process.

Architectural monuments

Parish church of St. Martin in Lamerdingen

A special attraction is the Catholic parish church of St. Martin in Lamerdingen, which is a popular photo motif with its late baroque "lantern tower". The joy of the people of the baroque age in the good and the beautiful has been immortalized inside the church. The whole light-flooded room symbolizes hope, pious admiration and confidence of the believers, who at that time did not face their God with fear, but with devoted enthusiasm and were ready to make any effort to glorify him.

The parish church of St. Martin in Lamerdingen was rebuilt around 1500 ( Gothic ) next to the previous church and rebuilt in the Rococo style in the years 1737–1738 . The magnificent stucco work in the early Rococo style by Matthias Stiller from Ettringen and the frescos by the painter Johann Georg Lederer from the Augsburg school date from this period . In the main section of the chancel, the "Assumption of Mary" is depicted. In the nave, the large ceiling fresco shows “Death and Transfiguration of St. Martin”.

The main altar (1694) has a rococo tabernacle (1765) and a good altarpiece of baroque power and abundance by Johann Schmidtner (1690), which depicts St. Martin's ascent into heaven.

With its works of art (pictures, figures, altars, benches, stucco and frescoes) and its uniform baroque appearance, the church of Lamerdingen is one of the highest quality country churches in the region.

In the basement of the tower, which belonged to the previous church, there are still frescoes from the early Gothic period from the 13th century. These were only discovered in 1954 during renovation work. The mighty Gothic tower, built around 1230, was raised by another floor in 1771 in the late Rococo style. Under the idiosyncratic lantern hood there is a magnificent, beautiful sounding bell, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful and difficult in the Ostallgäu.

The five bronze bells with a total weight of over seven tons sound like the double Te Deum motif. The oldest bell is the "Holy Cross Bell". It was made in 1577 by the Biberach bell founder Joachim Volmer I for the previous church of today's Ottobeurer monastery church. It therefore bears the monastery coat of arms and the depiction of the crucifixion scene of Jesus with the kneeling abbot Kaspar Kindelmann. In 1948 it was sold to Lamerdingen to buy a new bell. The two large bells were cast by the Bachert bell foundry in Bad Friedrichshall in 1985 and replaced the large bells lost in the Second World War .

Other sights

The former castle as the official residence of the governor was built around 1700, is now private property and cannot be visited. It is in the middle of the village on the main road. In the baroque stairwell is the coat of arms of the builder Franz Anton v. In the yard.

The flat Wertach valley west of Lamerdingen offers a special attraction . Well-developed farm roads offer ideal opportunities for cycling or inline skating.
