Johann Georg Lederer (* in the 17th or 18th century in Schongau , † in the 18th century) was a church painter of the Baroque . He is one of the lesser-known Augsburg masters of the baroque era.
Life
Lederer came from a Schongau family. His brothers were probably the Augsburg fresco painters Franz Joseph Lederer and VB Lederer. From 1729 he can be traced back to Augsburg as a journeyman of the painter Johann Moya . In 1731 he married a painter's daughter and acquired the right to become a master, in 1739 he became the forerunner of the Augsburg painters' guild . Lederer's documented work dates from 1733 to 1757, mostly in the Augsburg area and along the Lech. Some of the works documented in Krumau in Bohemia are an indication that there are still a number of previously unknown works by Lederer.
