Band history

Holger Flesch, who was born in Erfurt , and Norbert, who comes from Sonneberg , finally got to know each other during their studies at the Weimar Academy of Music . A close friendship quickly developed and in 1978 they decided to form a band together. While Holger Flesch played the guitar and took over the role of the main singer, Norbert Endlich supported him vocally with the second voices, played the solo guitar and piano.

In 1981 the duo first appeared as “H&N” at the “ Goldener Rathausmann ” festival . Her first single Schulfrei was followed by pieces such as Baby from Halle, Flic Flac into the Night and Two Handfuls of Dreams . H&N were guests on programs on GDR television such as Bong and Ein Kessel Buntes . They gave up to 300 concerts a year and stood on stage with the Puhdys or Frank Schöbel . In 1984 they received a gold medal in the interpreter competition. Axel Schulze acted as keyboard player. In the mid-1980s, they became involved with the Czechoslovak duo Hana & Dana , also known as Camellia . Both duos worked together with the copywriter Dieter Schneider . H&N composed Hana & Dana's title Haltlos , Stay with me tonight , love just total .

Although H&N had a permanent visa that allowed the artists to perform in West Germany, they were increasingly prevented from attending events there. On March 27, 1987, after a professional trip, they did not return to the GDR. In today journal of ZDF they shared with this. Trouble with the GDR Ministry of Culture and a threatened professional ban are the reason for the departure, they said on the program. They tried to continue their careers first as H&N, then as Boys Next Door . You composed, among others, for Roy Black No Tomorrow After.

In 1988 the duo separated. From then on, Holger Flesch worked on numerous projects outside the music industry.
