Hana & Dana

Hana & Dana was the name of the Czechoslovak female singing duo Kamélie , which was used and commonly used abroad . The duo consisted of Hana Buštíková (born February 5, 1950 in Valašské Meziříčí ) and Dana Vlková (born 1951). Their repertoire consisted mainly of pop songs and hits. They were produced by the ORM ( Organization Recording of Music ) production team, consisting of the Czechs Petr Dvořák and Pavel Růžička, later also with Vladimír Grunt. Some of the members of the music project ORM appeared on the record covers alongside the singer duo.

Career

Hana and Dana first met in a group as part of a concert program by Josef Laufer . After a while, Hana left the group to sing with Jiří Korn , while Dana became a mother. At the beginning of the 1980s, the two of them decided to appear as a "camellia". Since then they have worked closely with the pioneers of Czech dico music Petr Dvorak and Pavel Ruzicka, who at the time formed the duo ORM and from then on were responsible for the production of their titles. In 1983 they performed at the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo. In 1986 they got a gold record from Supraphon Records. While they were working on their third album, they also became acquainted with Eduard Krecmar, who became their main songwriter. Their songs were played more and more often on the radio, they began to appear regularly on television shows and toured Europe with their program. In the early 90s they recorded a country album on which they sang in German.

The duo's successful period was in the 1980s. In addition to Czech , they also sang in German and were very successful in the GDR and had many appearances in big shows such as Ein Kessel Buntes . For their European tour they also sang some tracks in English. Due to their tours and appearances in the GDR, they were also on the road a lot with the music duo H&N and ultimately connected privately. Hana was married to the singer Holger Flesch, with whom she also had a child. However, the marriage did not last when Flesch did not return to the GDR after performing in West Germany.

In addition to their joint project Kamélie, Hana Buštíková and Dana Vlková also had successful careers individually and in duets with other Czech singers ( Jiří Korn , Karel Zich ).

Hana & Dana still occasionally appear together in public. Nowadays they mostly work with young musicians.
