The Kiebelehaus

The Auerbergmuseum in the Kiebelehaus is a local history museum in Bernbeuren in Upper Bavaria . It is part of the Auerbergland museum network , to which eight other museums belong. The municipality of Bernbeuren is responsible for the museum.

The museum is connected to the former Roman settlement on the Auerberg by the four-kilometer-long Via Damasia cultural trail . Experience stations and information boards give an insight into the oldest suspected Roman military and craft settlement in Bavaria , the Damasia Fortress .

building

The Kiebelehaus is an Allgäu timber frame construction from the 18th century and used to be a typical craftsman's house with additional, small agriculture. The two-storey, plastered residential stable with a steep pitched roof was dendrochronologically dated to the year 1720, with the roof being renewed around 1879 and the two-storey return added around 1900. The building is included in the list of architectural monuments in Bernbeuren .
