Stefanie Berg

Stefanie Berg (* 1965 in Ahrensburg ), temporarily with the double name Stefanie Berg-Hobohm until the end of 2017 , is a German prehistorian and, as senior curator, head of linear projects in the practical soil conservation department at the Bavarian State Office for Monument Conservation in Munich .

career

Berg studied prehistory, classical archeology and anthropology at the universities of Mainz and Tübingen . She then completed a postgraduate course at the University of Bradford , England , for a Master of Arts in archeology and completed her studies with a master's thesis at the University of Tübingen. With a published 2004 dissertation on the Germanic settlement Göritz 4 it was in 1999 at the Institute of History of the Humboldt University of Berlin PhD .

In 2008 she was appointed head of linear projects in Munich and has since been responsible for all archaeological and geo-archaeological investigations that are due to planned civil engineering work in route projects in Bavaria. She is a member of Peter Ettel's Fossa Carolina working group , which is part of the priority program Ports from the Roman Empire to the Middle Ages , which was launched by the German Research Foundation . She curated the special exhibition Large Construction Site 793 , which ran from 2014 to 2015 at several locations in Germany. Charlemagne's canal project between the Rhine and the Danube .

Berg is a member of the geoarchaeology working group founded in 2004 and spokeswoman for the Archaeological Monument Preservation Commission in the Association of State Archaeologists .
