history
Numerous cairns from the middle (about 1500 to 1250 v. Chr.) And late Bronze Age (ca. 1250-800 v. Chr.) In the municipal area are evidence of a very early settlement.
Until the church is planted
The village of Obersöchering is likely to have emerged from the second half of the 5th to the middle of the 6th century AD. After the collapse of Roman rule , various Germanic tribes settled the area from the Danube to the Alps without a fight. The Celtic- Romanesque population residing there merged with the newly formed Bavarian tribe. The place name is said to go back to the settlement of the Sahker or Sigher clan.
Excavations in the Marienkirche (Frauenkirche) from the 1970s revealed that a small wooden church stood in its place as early as around the year 700. The place was first mentioned around 750 as "Secheringen". Obersöchering was part of the Munich Rent Office and the Weilheim district court of the Electorate of Bavaria .
With the municipal edict of 1818 , the municipality of Obersöchering, which belonged to the Weilheim district court , was created.
Municipal reform
In the course of the municipal reform , Obersöchering joined the newly founded administrative community of Habach in 1978 as a still independent municipality. In 1981 the district of Egenried was reclassified from the community of Eberfing to Obersöchering at the request of its residents .
