The Antdorfer Counts, a sideline of the Huosi , were the founders and first abbots of the Benediktbeuern monastery . At that time they brought 30 farms into the monastery foundation. When Hungary incidence 905 the Benediktbeurer was destroyed religious house, which Antdorf was again owned by the local nobility and 1330 by Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria the Ettal monastery was left. In 1632, during the Thirty Years' War , the Swedes raided the place, plundered and pillaged it; a third of the homes and the parish church fell victim to the flames. So in 1688 the construction of a new parish church began. The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark .

In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , with the municipal edict of 1818, today's municipality, which belonged to the Weilheim district court , was created.

Coat of arms and flag

Antdorf has had the coat of arms since 1984. The municipal flag is red-yellow-blue.

Official description of the coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: Split ; in front in blue under a silver sickle crossed diagonally a silver sword and a silver key , behind three times split by gold and red, in the left silver upper corner a blue heraldic lily .

Coat of arms history

The sickle in the front field symbolizes both the importance of agriculture as a branch of business and the traditional Isidore brotherhood. Key and sword, the attributes of Saints Peter and Paul, refer to the church patron of Antdorf. The colors silver and blue underline the sovereignty exercised by the dukes and electors from the House of Wittelsbach . The rear field recalls the early history of the community. The threefold division of gold and red with the silver upper corner reflects the apocryphal coat of arms of the Huosi . The Counts of Antdorf, traceable as early as 740, were a branch line of the Huosi; they became extinct in 1260/80. The Huosi founded the Benediktbeuern monastery in the 8th century ; Antdorf was part of the original equipment of the monastery. The legendary coat of arms of the Huosi can also be found in the monastery coat of arms of Benediktbeuern. The lily in the Obereck refers to the Marian patronage of the Ettal monastery and the transfer of Antdorf to the monastery newly founded in 1330. From the 14th century until the secularization of 1803, the area around Antdorf and Frauenrain was subordinate to the Ettal Monastery Court (Amt Murnau) as an enclave in the Weilheim district court. The symbol of Mary also establishes a connection to the pilgrimage church of the Assumption in Frauenrain.
