history
Until the church is planted
The oldest finds of human activity in the Huglfinger area date from the Neolithic Age , they were found at the Ochsenbuckel and in the "Große Au". Barrows come from the Bronze Age and there are urn fields from the Hallstatt and La Tène periods .
Huglfing was founded around 510 AD. It was first mentioned in a document in 1030 under the name Hugolvingen . The name is composed of the Germanic name "Hugolf" and the ending "ingen", whereby the Germanic name Hugu means meaning, understanding, spirit and memory. The second syllable ingen indicates a clan. Huglfing used to be owned by the Counts of Eschenlohe , and later it was sold to the Bishops of Augsburg . In 1332 Huglfing was donated by Emperor Louis the Bavarian from the Bishopric of Augsburg become the property of Kloster Ettal through. From the 14th century, the "nobles of Ramung" had a castle in what is today the district of Rameck. A major fire destroyed numerous properties in 1500 and severely damaged the high medieval parish church. There were several mills on the Hungerbach, including the Mittermühle, the Kirchmühle and the Moosmühle. Until the secularization in Bavaria in 1803, two thirds of the property belonged to Ettal Abbey. The former imperial direct monastery shared jurisdiction with the Bavarian district court in Weilheim and the Polling monastery also had a noble seat here. In the course of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1818, Huglfing became an independent political municipality that belonged to the Weilheim district court .
