Böbing is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau and a member of the Rottenbuch administrative community . Böbing is located in the Oberland region . There is only the district Böbing.

history
Until the church is planted
The name Böbing comes from the clan of a Babo or Bebo. The first documentary mention was in 935 with the place name "Bebingoe". Later the place was donated by Welf IV to the nearby Rottenbuch monastery . This is proven by the document dated December 27, 1074. Böbing still belonged to the Rottenbuch monastery in the Electorate of Bavaria and was part of the closed Hofmark Rottenbuch.
In the course of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria , the municipality edict of 1818 created today's municipality, which belonged to the Schongau district court .
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1,401 to 1,885 by 484 inhabitants or 34.6%.

Culture and sights
In addition to the Catholic church with Lourdes grotto in the center of the village, there is a small plague cemetery outside in the direction of Schönberg . The plague victim of 1643 is commemorated there. According to an information board, a small procession takes place every year in mid-August.

In 2011 there were three employees in the field of agriculture and forestry, 142 in the manufacturing sector and 21 in trade and transport at the place of work. - Bartholomäus Steinle (around 1580–1628), mannerist and early baroque sculptor , was born on the Steinlehof in the Kirnberg district.
- Albin Schwaiger (1758–1824), meteorologist and Augustinian canon
- Julius Uhl (1903–1934), politician ( NSDAP ) and SA leader as well as long-time head of the SA staff guard, one of those killed in the so-called Röhm putsch
- Niki Schelle: rally driver and test driver for TV motorsport magazines (e.g. Grip-Das Motormagazin)
- Josef Gretschmann : Former mayor and honorary citizen of Böbing, former member of the Bavarian State Parliament (1958–1965) of the CSU ("Bürgermeister-Gretschmann-Straße" was named after him)
- Martin Gretschmann: Musician who drew attention to himself through music projects such as Console and successful radio plays (in collaboration with Andreas Ammer ). As a member of the Notwist group , he received the German Film Prize in 2010 for the soundtrack to the film " Sturm ".
Others
In Böbing there was a band called "Babo de Bebo", which was named after the origin of the place name.
