Josef Gretschmann

Josef Gretschmann (born February 13, 1914 in Böbing ; † September 8, 1965 there ) was a German CSU politician .

After attending elementary school and the agricultural training school in Böbing, he worked on his parents' farm before he was drafted into military service in 1936. During the Second World War he was used on the Eastern and Western Fronts and wounded four times. In 1941, Gretschmann, who was a sergeant at the time, received the Knight's Cross and the honorary citizenship of his home community Böbing. He returned to this in 1945 to take over the management of his parents' business. In 1953 the complete takeover took place. An agricultural training company was later added there, and in 1955 Gretschmann was recognized as an agricultural teacher by the Bavarian Minister of Agriculture, Joseph Baumgartner . In 1948 Gretschmann was elected mayor of Böbing, and from 1952 he was a member of the district council of the Schongau district . In 1958 he was elected to the Bavarian State Parliament in the district of Landberg / Lech-Stadt und -Land, Schongau , and in 1962 his direct mandate was confirmed. Gretschmann held these mandates until his death. He left behind his wife, whom he married in 1953, and three children.
