Bartholomäus Steinle
Bartholomäus Steinle , also Bartlme Steinle , Bartholomäus Stainl and Bartholomäus Steindl (* around 1580 in the Steinlehof (Hinterkirnberg) in Böbing ; † 1628 in Weilheim in Upper Bavaria ) was a German sculptor and carver.
Steinle originally comes from Rottenbuch , but then came to Weilheim in 1605. In 1624/1628 he was elected to the city's external council and appointed church caretaker.
He is considered to be one of the most important representatives of folk mannerist carving, which is still strongly influenced by the Bavarian late Gothic . This positioning between two styles creates the tension inherent in his works.
