history
The castle is first mentioned in 1173 in the possession of a respected and widespread noble family, the nobles of Wittelshofen, whose heraldic animal, the wild boar, is still included in the Wielenbach coat of arms. According to the “Pähler Chronicle”, traces of the castle are said to have been visible in the 19th century. Nothing is left of the former moth enclosure today.
