history
Until the 19th century
In 924 the Oberbrunn district was first mentioned as "Brunn" in the Salzburg document book. In 1195 the first church in Pittenhart was mentioned in a document. In 1818 the parish Pittenhart was created by the parish edict, which was congruent with the parish. The Hofmark Oberbrunn , created around 1530/35, was added to the Pittenhart community because of its small size. In the years 1846 to 1848 the church in Pittenhart was expanded.
Outsourcing
On January 1, 1982, a part of the area with about 40 inhabitants at that time was assigned to the neighboring community of Amerang ( district of Rosenheim ).
Population development
Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 1,356 to 1,801 by 445 inhabitants or 32.8%.

Josef Reithmeier (CSU) has been mayor since May 1, 2014; he was re-elected on March 15, 2020 with 63.8% of the vote.
The municipal council for the 2020 to 2026 term of office includes six representatives each from the CSU (53.6%) and the FREE VOTERS (46.4%).

Pittenhart has two stops on demand (Aindorf and Pittenhart) on the Chiemgauer Lokalbahn, which is only operated on Sundays in the summer months .
