from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hepberg Castle is a former castle in Hepberg in the Eichstätt district . It is now a residential and guest house and is a listed building (number D-1-76-131-2).

history

The castle was built in 1728 by the then Hofmarkherr Johann Joachim Joseph Kastulus Freiherr von Liechtenau. In 1771, the Bavarian Academy of Sciences set up a privileged electoral “Real-Landschule” in the castle, which temporarily accepted up to 250 poor and neglected pupils from the Electorate of Bavaria . In 1778 the institution was closed again.

The two-story main building is now used for residential purposes. The "castle restaurant" is also housed in it. An annual stable Christmas has been held in the historic building since 1993. Every year 2000 visitors come to the performances of this Bavarian nativity scene with folk music, living figures and animals.
