Wackerstein Castle is located on a steep rockfall leading to the Danube in the village of Wackerstein in the Eichstätt district . The secluded castle chapel and defensive walls date from the Middle Ages .

history

The origin of the castle goes back to a castle from the 9th century. In 1781, today's two-wing complex was built by Anton Freiherr von Waldenspan. After the baron's death, the building passed into the hands of his granddaughter, Countess von Buttler. In 1811 they sold the castle to Friedrich Freiherr von Jordan, who in 1830 sold his landlord rights to the state. The castle came into private ownership.

In 1989 the castle was renovated and condominiums were built in it.
