Lauterbach (Bergkirchen)

Lauterbach is a town in the Bergkirchen municipality in the Dachau district in Upper Bavaria, north of the state capital of Munich .

Lauterbach has about 800 inhabitants and is located about 10 km west of the district town of Dachau on the main road Dachau-Einsbach, north of the federal motorway 8 Munich-Augsburg, just before the intersection of both roads. The townscape is characterized by Lauterbach Castle and the St. Jakobs Church, both of which are located east of the village on a hill. The village lies on clearly recognizable ridges of moraine hills, which are pushed far into the plain to the west. With foehn, the view extends south over the Munich gravel plains to the foothills of the Alps.

The first written mention as Hluttrinpah took place around 900 AD. Later mentions speak of Lutrinpah, then Luterbach. Lauterbach's history has been significantly influenced by Lauterbach Castle . Around 1400 the Dachau residents of Lauterbach sat at the castle. From 1439 Lauterbach Castle and the property belonging to it became the property of the von Hundt family . The first castle in Lauterbach was destroyed by the Swedes during the Thirty Years War and later rebuilt. In the early 19th century Lauterbach had around 200 inhabitants, in 1901 it had 347 inhabitants. After the Second World War, the population increased to 580 due to the refugees, who gradually emigrated. On May 1, 1978, Lauterbach was incorporated into the Bergkirchen community .

St. Jacob
  • The St. Jacob's Church in its present form with high altar and two side altars was consecrated on September 27, 1707. The glass window behind the high altar is one of the most important in Upper Bavaria and shows the coats of arms of the Egloffsteiner , Dachauer and Nussberger.
  • The Way of the Cross under a 300-year-old oak avenue leads up to the church on the hill.

Clubs and social affairs

The Lauterbach volunteer fire brigade was founded on January 1st, 1901 and is an active fire brigade association with regular events.

A rifle club ("Gemütlichkeit Lauterbach"), veterans club, horticultural club, tennis and table tennis club and the Catholic boys club are also active in Lauterbach.
