Section wall
A section wall (also section fastening ) is a fortification that does not completely enclose the area to be defended. It only protects a certain section and was only built in exposed places.
Such systems are still found above ground and can be found on mountain spurs , river bends (for example the oppidum of Altenburg-Rheinau ) and on steep seashores (for example the Iron Age Penchâteau in the French department of Loire-Atlantique ) and at Promontory forts of the British Isles .
