The moated castle Starzhausen is a ^ medieval moated castle in Starzhausen (Markt Wolnzach ) in the district of Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm .

history

Starzhausen is mentioned as early as 1030 and was the seat of a court marque of the local noble family of the Starzhausen family. The castle burned down three times, namely in 1598, in 1632 during the Thirty Years' War and the last time in 1699. The present castle was built around 1709. It has been preserved but is in decline.

The castle is a listed building (number D-1-86-162-83) and is described as follows:

"Two-storey, plastered hipped roof building with a richly structured portal with explosive gable , baroque , around 1709, revised 1952"
