from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pörnbach Castle is located in the middle of the village of Pörnbach in the Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm district .

history

The castle was first mentioned in 1558. Presumably it was rebuilt in 1572 under Johann Georg von Schafhausen. The shape of the residential wing suggests that it was built in the Renaissance style . In 1662 Pörnbach Castle came to the Toerring family . In 1708, the Toerrings, which had no longer inhabited the castle since the middle of the 18th century, carried out major renovations and extensions. Over the years, structural changes were made to the castle and its extensive outbuildings. After 1946 the castle and the associated building complexes offered accommodation for refugee families. From 2003 to 2005 the neglected area was extensively renovated. The palace park was also rebuilt. Pörnbach Castle is currently used as a place for celebrations.

Building description
