Jetzendorf Castle

The Jetzendorf castle stands in the center of the Upper Bavarian village Jetzendorf in district Pfaffenhofen . It was the manor of the Hofmark Jetzendorf and is a typical Hofmarkschloss with associated farm buildings that surround the castle courtyard and the neighboring church.

history

Jetzendorf is first mentioned in 893 when Count Jezo exchanged possessions here. Other owners were the families von Kamer and von Zillenhart , the Counts von Rechberg , the Freiherrn von Stromer and Graf von Lösch .

Jetzendorf Castle has belonged to the Barons von Freyberg-Eisenberg since 1812 and is still inhabited by the family today. The best-known owner from this family was Karl von Freyberg (1866–1940), who was Bavarian Minister of Agriculture from 1919 to 1920.

In 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015 Jetzendorf Castle was the filming location for the KIKA series Fluch des Falken .

Jetzendorf Castle was built in the 12./13. Century started. The oldest surviving parts come from the late Gothic period .

The castle got its current dimensions in the 1610s. Today's three-wing complex was created by adding a west and south wing. The upper storey and the gable of the older, so-called high castle, had to be removed in 1840 due to worm infestation .

The outbuildings include a Bräumisterhaus, a horse stable and the Schlossstadel . The former brewery was in operation until 1971.
