Burgstall Mitterndorf

The Burgstall Mitterndorf refers to an abandoned medieval hilltop castle on the Giglberg above the Amper about 200 meters east-northeast of the church of St. Nikolaus and St. Maria in Mitterndorf , a district of the Dachau community in the Dachau district in Bavaria .

The castle was built around 1100 by the Counts of Scheyern . In 1123 an " Arnold II comes de Dahoe " was mentioned. In 1142/43 the castle was built by Duke Heinrich XI. destroyed in the Guelph-Staufer dispute.

Small remains of the tower hill are still preserved from the former castle complex, probably a tower hill castle.
