The Burgstall Widdersberg , also called Burgstall Plattenstein or Burgstall Oberer Weinberg , is an abandoned hilltop castle at 605  m above sea level. NHN high "castle hill" between the Widdersberger Weiher and the Pilsensee , about 375 meters north-northwest of the church of Widdersberg (Burgstrasse), a district of the municipality of Herrsching am Ammersee in the Starnberg district in Bavaria .

history

The castle was built by the Lords of Widdersberg mentioned in the 13th century. They were extinct in 1328. From 1363, the castle was under the control of Seefeld Castle . In 1370 the castle was mentioned as "a place with rubble and rubble, plus deep, steep trenches". Today's Burgstall (former Burgplatz) is privately owned and may not be entered.

Nature and monument protection

The Postal is within the conservation area, the Western part of the district Starnberg (LSG-00542.01), which was found in 2001 under protection, as well as within the FFH area Ammersee and directing forests , which got its protection status of 2004.

The Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation lists the ground monument as a castle stables of the high and late Middle Ages ("Widdersberg") as well as a settlement from the Bronze Age and the late Roman Empire under monument number D-1-7933-0020.
