Neuenhinzenhausen is a district of the Altmannstein market in the Schambachtal in the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt .

location

Neuenhinzenhausen is located on the road between Sandersdorf and Sollern on the southern Franconian Alb in a valley basin. The Schambach flows through the village . A road leads from the B 299 in Sandersdorf via Neuenhinzenhausen to Altmannstein.

history

In 1353 the place was first mentioned in a document with the naming of Jakob Hinzenhauser . This family initially owned a hilltop castle, but in the middle of the 16th century they settled down in the valley and built a moated castle . From then on there was a "Neuenhinzenhausen" at the new mansion and "Altenhinzenhausen" at the former seat. The lords of the castle owned, among other things, Engelbrechtsmünster . From 1557 to 1780 the Muggenthaler owned the castle. After that, the place and the castle belonged to the Barons von Bassus, who sat at Sandersdorf Castle.

In the Thirty Years' War New Hinz Hausen was otherwise not destroyed as its neighboring towns, as a hunter with a few cronies, the Swedish soldiers from the pillage allegedly held and destruction of the village. In 1866 the moated castle was demolished due to its disrepair; its moats were leveled in the middle of the 20th century.

On April 1, 1929, part of the previously independent municipality of Sollern was incorporated. In 1939 the community had 325 inhabitants. When the local church of St. Walburga was renovated in 1957/58, frescoes from the 16th or 17th centuries were discovered. On January 1, 1972, Neuenhinzenhausen became part of the Altmannstein market as part of the Bavarian regional reform . In 2009, a new chapel with a statue of John of Nepomuk from 1750 was inaugurated at the Schambach Bridge.
