history

In 955/80 the place was first mentioned as "Scafeshuli" in a document from the St. Emmeram monastery in Regensburg. The place was one of the 17 Landschrannen (court seat) of the district court Hirschberg . In 1136/37, when an Augustinian canon monastery was established in Schamhaupten , the parish of Schamhaupten was re-established with all its accessories, including Schafshill.

In the course of the regional reform , the place was incorporated into the market Altmannstein on January 1, 1972.

The tower with an octagon over a square and an onion dome stands in the west of the church and was built in 1811. The two altars were built around 1720; In the shrine of the side altar (right) there is a figure of St. James . There is a Gothic tabernacle in the sacristy .
