Sollern

Sollern is a small district of the Altmannstein market in the Schambachtal in the Eichstätt district . It has 88 inhabitants and is known for a Scapular Brotherhood , which has its seat in the church "Our Lady of Mount Carmel" . The parish and pilgrimage church was built at the end of the 17th century.

Sollern is on the road between Neuenhinzenhausen and Altmannstein , on the course of the Schambach .

The village was first mentioned in 1027. The village was badly damaged during a war in the middle of the 15th century. Then it came into the possession of the Muggenthalers via the Hechsenagger .

"Sollern" is derived from the Latin name of the sundial "solaris". There was also a noble family, the Solaren, who ruled Sollern.

On April 1, 1929, part of the community of Sollern was incorporated into the community of Neuhinzenhausen. The other part came to Mendorf.
